Weeks 8 and 9 in Review
Week 8 saw the Eastern teams play while the West was on the bye week.
Game 1: Winnipeg 34-27 over Hamilton (Points: KDS, Jamie, Steve)
Game 2: Montreal 32-14 over Toronto (Points: Everyone!)
And Week 9 saw the Western teams play while the East took a little rest.
Game 1: Edmonton 27-10 over Saskatchewan (Points: Jamie, Luke, KDS)
Game 2: Calgary 36-29 over BC (Points: KDS)
IMPORTANT STUFF: For whatever insane reason, I have lost Steve's email in which he made nearly all of his picks in a row for the season. I can't find it and therefore, his picks were not included in Week 9. If anyone has it still in their email inbox, please either include his picks with yours for Week 10 (and beyond), or, forward me a copy of it. Danke.
It looks like we're starting to see what some teams are made out of. It is now apparent that the Sasktachewan Roughriders are indeed mere mortals. However, they still hold a 2-point gap above second place in the West. Edmonton and Calgary are proving to be real condenders for top-spot should the Roughriders lose any more games, and the BC Lions look like the early favourites to capitalize on an playoff crossover.
Speaking of the East, Montreal looks unstoppable against their divisional rivals and it looks as if Winnipeg can win games afterall! All they need to do is give Roberts 30+ touches/game. Hamilton looked better than I thought and I'm sure sitting Printers for their Labour Day game against Toronto would be a good move. Toronto continues to struggle offensively and who can blame their poor defenseive performance when they face a gun-slinging Calvillo?
The CFL's annual Labour Day Classics will be incredible to watch this year. First off, BC goes to Montreal where they'll look to upset the Als and move into second place (for the moment). Winnipeg then comes to Saskatchewan where they are likely to face newly aquired QB Michael Bishop! On Labour Day's double header, Edmonton comes to Calgary to try and extend their winning streak - and point total - over the rest of the West; followed by the Argos going to Hamilton, where KJ looks to prove that they didn't need Bishop anyways. It'll be hot!
Official picks for Labour Day weekend can be made tomorrow on the Week 10 post.
